2022 Year in Review

In 2022, UCI continued to advance its ever-growing legacy of academic and human-centered success. Following a year of renewal in 2021, the university’s commitment to excellence through student and faculty achievement has not gone unnoticed.

UCI claimed a spot on three top 10 lists of national universities and, for the fourth year in a row, remains the top UC choice for in-state, first-generation students. Drawing them in are some of the past year’s initiatives, with a continued emphasis on diversity, equity and inclusion – as well as sustainability.

The past year was filled with UCI achievement, from research teams that uncovered key brain mechanisms used to organize memory to the launch of an Environmental Humanities Research Center to another Guinness world record set by students in the first week of the academic year. For UCI, 2022 was brilliant indeed.
