Covid has killed at least eight times as many people as the flu and pneumonia do in a comparable timespan, according to Andrew Noymer, an associate professor of public health at the University of California, Irvine. “If I die of Covid today, my death is borrowed against future deaths,” Noymer said. “But the point is, it may be borrowed 10 years in advance.”
