UC Irvine ranks eighth in the world and No. 1 in the nation among universities under 50 years old, according to a survey released Sept. 23 by Quacquarelli Symonds. The campus was evaluated on academic reputation, employer reputation, citations from university research, student/faculty ratios, and the number of foreign students and faculty. UCI ranks 155th when compared to 863 universities of any age. This year, 63,676 academic and 28,759 employer responses contributed to the results, making the survey the largest of its kind anywhere. The annual QS World University Rankings, compiled in consultation with an international advisory board of leading academics, is widely referenced by prospective and current students, university professionals and governments.
