Therapists, scientists differ notably in acceptance of repressed memories
On Thursday, Jan. 9, the inaugural Vietnamese American history class at Garden Grove High School toured UC Irvine’s Southeast Asian Archive and learned about the Vietnamese American Oral History Project.
Michael Yassa, assistant professor of neurobiology & behavior, and his team of scientists found that caffeine has a positive effect on long-term memory in humans. Their research, published Jan. 12 in the journal Nature Neuroscience, shows that caffeine enhances certain memories for up to 24 hours after it is consumed.
The UC Irvine Libraries invite the campus community, alumni and the public to play AnteaterTag@UCI, a game in which contestants view and describe digital photographs from the Libraries’ Online Archive of UCI History. Participants will enrich what’s known about these historical images from the University Archives and contribute to UC Irvine’s 50th anniversary celebration in 2015.
