The groundbreaking work at UCI’s Reeve-Irvine Research Center will be part of a documentary making its world premiere at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at the Irvine Barclay Theatre. “SurvivorTales: Toby’s Story” is about Toby Forrest, an adventurous and active young man who, after a diving accident, became confined to a wheelchair. It tells the true story of how Forrest is now a successful musician giving back to others and living life with hope and optimism despite his disability. The movie also offers a behind-the-scenes look at Reeve-Irvine spinal cord injury research that could someday help Forrest and millions of others living with paralysis. Forrest and his band, Cityzen, will perform at the event, which is hosted by the Foundation for Biomedical Research.
