UC Irvine News Brief: Dr. William E. Bunney receives IOM's Sarnat Prize for mood disorder research
The award, consisting of a medal and $20,000, recognizes his seminal work in revealing the key biological abnormalities in depression and schizophrenia.
The national Institute of Medicine has awarded the 2011 Rhoda & Bernard Sarnat International Prize in Mental Health to Dr. William E. Bunney, UCI Distinguished Professor of psychiatry & human behavior, for his achievements in enhancing the treatment and understanding of mood disorders. The Sarnat Prize, consisting of a medal and $20,000, recognizes Bunney’s seminal research, which revealed the key biological abnormalities in depression and schizophrenia. Bunney received the prize at the IOM’s annual meeting in Washington, D.C.
