Participants in April 9 event will tour UC Irvine Douglas Hospital, shadow physicians on their patient rounds, and speak with doctors and med students about careers in healthcare.
UCI’s School of Medicine will host 30 potential doctors-to-be at its high school forum Saturday, April 9, at UC Irvine Medical Center. The half-day program will provide a unique opportunity for Orange County teens to experience what life is like for medical students. Participants will tour UC Irvine Douglas Hospital, shadow physicians on their patient rounds, and speak with doctors and medical students about careers in medicine. This will be the third high school forum hosted by the School of Medicine. “Students are very excited and motivated to participate,” said program director Dr. Rimal Bera, clinical professor of psychiatry & human behavior. “Interest in this event continues to grow, and we’re exploring how to develop it further.”
