UC Irvine News Brief: UCI graduate programs score in US News' top 50
Humanities’ literary criticism program holds top spot in US News & World Report’s annual ranking.
Three of UC Irvine’s graduate programs received updated, top-50 rankings in U.S. News & World Report‘s 2012 edition of Best Grad Schools released Tuesday, March 15. These include programs in engineering, 39; business, 40; and education, 48. The annual report ranks programs based on national reputation and the quality of students and faculty. Only a portion of the graduate programs are re-evaluated each year. Including rankings from previous years, UCI now has 22 programs in the top 50. They are: literary criticism & theory, 1; criminology, 5; organic chemistry, 11; behavioral neuroscience, 12; physical chemistry, 12; cognitive psychology, 16; theoretical chemistry, 18; English, 22; chemistry, 26; sociology, 27; computer sciences, 28; psychology, 29; physics, 30; biological sciences, 34; political science, 36; economics, 42; history, 42; medicine, 42; and math, 43.
