Two UCI chemists awarded DOE early-career research grants

UC Irvine chemists Eric Potma and Matt Law are among 69 scientists awarded grants through the U.S. Department of Energy’s new Early Career Research Program. The assistant professors will each receive at least $150,000 annually for five years to cover research expenses and summer salary. The program is intended to bolster the nation’s scientific workforce by supporting exceptional researchers early in their careers. In all, the DOE awarded about $85 million through the program, funded by the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act.
