Environmental and Climate Change Literacy Projects’ annual forum symposium to explore ways to address environmental literacy and climate challenges in schools, communities
EVENT: The Environmental and Climate Change Literacy Projects (ECCLPs) is hosting its annual forum symposium, with this year’s theme being “Collaborating for Change: Bridging the Gap in Climate and Environmental Literacy, Justice and Action Across PK-12, Higher Education, and Community Partners.”
The annual forum symposium is designed to facilitate dialogue and collaboration among preschool to year-16 educators and students, statewide leaders, researchers and community partners. Through immersive experiences, knowledge sharing and networking opportunities, participants will gain insights and practical tools, build relationships for future collaborations and explore ways to address environmental literacy and climate challenges within educational settings and communities.
WHEN/WHERE: This event will be held virtually from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, May 3. More details can be found here: https://ecclps.net/afs2024. BACKGROUND: Created in 2019 and initially launched as a summit at UCLA, ECCLPs represents a collaboration among 33 campuses across the University of California and California State University systems and community-based partners whose mission is to educate PK-12 students of environmental and climate change literacy, justice and action. It was relaunched at the UC Irvine School of Education in September 2022 through a gift made possible by longtime supporter Stacey Nicholas. The 2024 forum symposium recenters the conversation on climate solutions on education for climate action across a vast network of PK-16 students, educators, elected leaders, and community members.
