“This is designed to support students who have leadership qualities and are looking to take that to the community pharmacy,” says Linh Lee, who initiated the establishment of the $50,000 endowment. Students enrolled in UCI’s Doctor of Pharmacy program will have the opportunity to gain real-world work experience within Ralphs pharmacies, thanks to a newly created $50,000 endowment driven by alumna Linh Lee, who earned a B.S. in biological sciences in 1997. Currently the director of pharmacy for Ralphs Grocery Co., Lee says the funds are designed to enhance classroom instruction with practical experience. “My goal is to help reshape both student and public perceptions of the role that community pharmacists play in local healthcare delivery,” she said. “They are accessible providers who provide essential services for people in their neighborhood, including recommending and administering vaccines and helping with medication management.” Lee plans to continue her support of UCI’s School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences by joining its Dean’s Leadership Council as an advisor.
