UCI kicks off fall quarter with move-in, Welcome Week and convocation
EVENTS: Fall-quarter activities begin Sept. 22, when incoming students arrive to move into campus housing over a three-day period. Welcome Week commences Sept. 22 and continues through the 29th, with a series of events and open houses to help students familiarize themselves with the campus and its resources. The New Student Convocation will take place at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, in the Bren Events Center, where Chancellor Howard Gillman will deliver an inspirational greeting to incoming Anteaters.
WHEN/WHERE: On Friday, Sept. 22, starting at 10:15 a.m., UCI leadership will be on hand at the campus’s Mesa Court complex to welcome and assist first-year and transfer students living in UCI residence halls (grid C3 and C4 on campus map: https://parking.uci.edu/maps/documents/2022-UCI-MainCampusMap.pdf).
INFORMATION: The move-in day event with leadership is by invitation only for media. Parking is available in the Anteater Parking Structure, located at the intersection of Anteater Drive and East Peltason Drive on campus. BACKGROUND: More than 10,000 students will move into campus housing between Sept. 22 and 24. The New Student Convocation is the official opening to the academic year at UCI. An expected 5,000 new students will be introduced to the chancellor, vice chancellors and school deans. The first day of instruction is Sept. 28.
