EVENTS:  Fall-quarter activities begin Sept. 13, when incoming students arrive for move-in week. Welcome Week commences Sept. 18 and continues through the 24th with a series of events and open houses to help students familiarize themselves with the campus and resources. The New Student Convocation takes place at 8 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, in the Bren Events Center, where Chancellor Gillman will deliver an inspirational greeting to the incoming Anteaters.

WHEN/WHERE:  On Saturday, Sept. 17, starting at 10:15 a.m., Chancellor Howard Gillman and Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Willie Banks Jr. will be on hand at UCI’s Middle Earth Towers to welcome and assist first-year and transfer students living in UCI residence halls (grid E7 on campus map: https://parking.uci.edu/maps/documents/2022-UCI-MainCampusMap.pdf).

INFORMATION:  This event is by invitation only. Parking is available in the Anteater Parking Structure, located at the intersection of Anteater Drive and East Peltason Drive on campus. BACKGROUND:  More than 10,000 students will move into campus housing between Sept. 13 and 18. The New Student Convocation is the official opening to the academic year at UCI, and this year’s will be back indoors for the first time since 2019. It will also be livestreamed. An expected 5,000 new students will be introduced to the chancellor, vice chancellors and school deans. The first day of instruction is Sept. 22. The campus will admit 5,894 freshmen and 2,724 transfer students this fall.
