Coronavirus cases climb in Inland Empire, but ‘catastrophic wave’ not expected
“I don’t think this is the start of a major new wave,” epidemiologist Andrew Noymer, an associate professor of [public] health at UC Irvine, said Friday, May 20. “I’m not overly concerned. It’s clear we have seen a rebound. … It’s just not clear to me that it means we’re heading for another catastrophic wave.” At the same time, Noymer did not rule out the possibility that the current “uptick” could turn into a major surge.
