But what if there was a “universal” vaccine that worked against many types of coronaviruses, including those we haven’t researched or even discovered yet? UC Irvine immunology professor Lbachir BenMohamed believes he can create one, and he’s testing more than a dozen possible candidates now. “We cannot sit here and then wait for another outbreak to happen, and then the whole world will shut down and another million people will die,” he said.
