“They have already started vaccinating healthcare workers here at UCI Medical Center, but as soon as that relief comes, they’re faced with the harsh reality that this is what’s necessary. A field hospital for up to 50 patients in the parking lot. … ‘What happened after Thanksgiving is going to pale in comparison to what happens after Christmas,’ said Dr. Sebastian Schubl. ‘That’s what we have to prepare for.’ So at UCI Medical Center that means constructing a massive field hospital, like something you’d see in a war zone. ‘We had to do something dramatic, so that’s what we did,’ said Schubl.’”
