How Covid-19 turned college campuses into surveillance machines

To a degree that varies greatly from campus to campus, schools are experimenting with technology to control crowds, contact trace, and otherwise monitor the presence of the virus on campus. Some schools like the University of California Irvine are using campus WiFi networks to monitor crowd density.
