They can’t march in the streets. So they’re protesting in their cars instead

It’s no surprise to see different activist groups turning to similar protest tactics as they struggle to get attention for their causes and find new ways to come together, says David Meyer, a professor of sociology and political science at the University of California at Irvine. “You’re always looking for something that will work. … You have to be constantly prospecting for stuff,” says Meyer, author of “The Politics of Protest: Social Movements in America.”
