UCI to host celebration of esports team’s victory in ‘League of Legends’ championship
EVENT: UCI’s esports community is inviting the public to help celebrate the Anteater team’s victory in the recent League of Legends College Championship. The event will feature free game play in the UCI Esports Arena, guest speakers, cake and a display of the championship trophy. The first 50 guests will also receive a free commemorative T-shirt.
WHEN/WHERE: Noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, on the UCI Student Center terrace (bldg. 113, grid E8 on campus map: https://communications.uci.edu/documents/pdf/UCI_16_map_campus_core.pdf)

BACKGROUND: In just its second year as a varsity program, the second-seeded UCI “League of Legends” team won the college championship with a 3-0 victory against fifth-seeded Columbia College. The tournament final took place June 10 at the North American League of Legends Championship Series Arena in Los Angeles. This is UCI Esports’ first national title since the program began in 2016.
