With Welcome Week underway, we take stock of new stats

UCI welcomes students back to campus this week, starting its 53rd year with a record number of enrollees. More than 34,000 students will return to classes after a series of Welcome Week festivities, including the New Student Convocation, the Anteater Involvement Fair, Late Night at the ARC, the Aldrich Park After Dark concert and the Screen on the Green movie showing.

  • Number of students UCI’s on-campus housing can accommodate: 13,992
  • Number of students who attended convocation: 5,700
  • Number of students who attended SPOP 2017: 5,563
  • Number of parents who attended SPOP 2017: 3,430
  • Number of new transfer students: 3,070 (estimated)
  • Square feet of UCI’s new food pantry in parking lot 5: 1,818
