Audra Eagle Yun, Krystal Tribbett and Thuy Vo Dang (from left) of the UCI Libraries will lead the IMLS-funded project.

The UCI Libraries have been awarded a prestigious Institute of Museum & Library Services grant of $500,000 to explore the outcomes of undergraduate students applying what they learn in ethnic studies combined with lived experience in contributing to community archives. The team, led by university archivist Audra Eagle Yun, head of Special Collections & Archives, will partner with the departments of Asian American studies, Chicano/Latino studies and African American studies, as well as with organizations throughout Orange County. Further, they will work to connect library and information studies practice with ethnic studies curricula and provide undergraduates with firsthand experience in building and providing access to the digital cultural heritage of the underdocumented. Other UCI Libraries researchers include Krystal Tribbett, the oral history and documentation projects coordinator, and Thuy Vo Dang, archivist for the Southeast Asian Archive.
