UCI has been named a platinum-level Fit-Friendly Worksite by the American Heart Association for the fifth year in a row. The designation recognizes organizations that have fulfilled key criteria and demonstrated a strong commitment to providing a healthy workplace for employees. Platinum-level employers must meet the following on-site criteria: offer workers physical activity options; increase healthy eating choices; promote a wellness culture; implement at least nine criteria outlined by the AHA in the areas of physical activity, nutrition and culture; and demonstrate measurable outcomes related to workplace wellness. UCI Worklife & Wellness helps employees achieve a more balanced and healthy lifestyle both at work and at home. It encourages walking and other exercise, urges healthy eating and hydration, and hosts an annual Wellness & Safety Fair.
