On Oct. 8, a global community of scientists and advocates annually calls attention to continued advances in stem cell research. On this Stem Cell Awareness Day, UCI’s Sue & Bill Gross Stem Cell Research Center will open its doors to campus and community supporters. Self-guided tours of the state-of-the-art labs will let visitors meet UCI’s stem cell scientists, learn about the science, and see the future of medicine being developed. The open house will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Sue & Bill Gross Hall: A CIRM Institute, at 845 Health Sciences Road. C. Randal Mills, president and CEO of the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine, will give a talk at 6 p.m. about the promise of stem cell research. To learn more or RSVP for Mills’ presentation, call 949-824-9621.
