UC Irvine students are stepping up to raise funds for victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. Among the efforts:

The American Red Cross Club will sponsor two fundraisers this week. On Tuesday, Nov. 19, they will sell Korean barbecue and on Wednesday, Nov. 20 Korean barbecue tacos. “Normally we dedicate one week of our fundraising toward a charity of our club members’ choice,” said club member Wynnie Thoi. “However, next week all proceeds for both events will be donated to the American Red Cross’ disaster relief for those affected by the typhoon in the Philippines.

Alyansa Ng Mga Kababayan is hosting a Balikbayan Box drive. Large shipping crates used will be filled with food, clothing and medical supplies and sent through a handler to the Philippines.

Kababayan at UC Irvine will hold a “Hope for the Philippine” T-shirt sale on Ring Mall Tuesday, Nov. 19 through Thursday, Nov. 21 with proceeds going toward disaster relief. “We also plan to have a donation box to allow people to give in any amount they wish,” said Diane-Marie Aguilar, Kababayan president.
