Princeton Review names UCI among ‘Best Value Colleges’ for 2013
UC Irvine is one of the nation’s “Best Value” colleges and universities, according to The Princeton Review. The education services company profiles the campus in The Best Value Colleges: 2013 Edition.
The book describes 75 public and 75 private institutions that The Princeton Review has designated as “Best Value Colleges,” based on assessments of academics, cost and financial aid. The company chose the 150 schools from 650 at which it conducted surveys in 2011-12. In their profile of UC Irvine, the book’s editors note that it “combines the advantages of a large, dynamic research university with the friendly feel of a small college.” UC Irvine students surveyed said their professors “honestly care about our education and the expansion of our minds” and praised the faculty’s commitment to helping undergrads. Said Robert Franek, senior vice president and publisher of The Princeton Review: “We commend UC Irvine and all of our extraordinary 2013 ‘Best Value Colleges’ for their stellar academics and for all they are doing to make their colleges affordable, especially for applicants with need in these tough economic times.”
