Temple Grandin to speak at UCI during Disability History Week
The author, professor and livestock industry consultant will share her knowledge of and experience with autism and Asperger’s syndrome.
Author, professor and livestock industry consultant Temple Grandin will share her knowledge of and experience with autism and Asperger’s syndrome with UCI students and the public Thursday, Oct. 4, in events marking Disability History Week. The public is invited to a talk called “A Different Point of View” at 7 p.m. in the UCI Student Center’s Pacific Ballroom. Registration is $10 and can be done online. UCI’s Disability Services Center is hosting an intimate conversation with Grandin, who has a Ph.D. in animal science, for engineering, medical and education doctoral students at 2:30 p.m. in the University Club. Chancellor Michael Drake will act as moderator in this talk, which will be followed by a Q-and-A session. Grandin was named one of Time’s 100 most influential people in 2010 and that same year was the subject of an HBO biopic starring Claire Danes.
