Physics & astronomy professor Jonathan Feng has been awarded a prestigious Simons Fellowship in Theoretical Physics. The newly created fellowship, similar to a Guggenheim Fellowship, will allow Feng to take a sabbatical from teaching and service to focus on research in the 2012-13 academic year. His work concerns theoretical particle physics and cosmology. The Simons Foundation, based in New York City, was incorporated in 1994 by Jim and Marilyn Simons. Its mission is to advance the frontiers of research in mathematics and the basic sciences.
