UC Irvine News Brief: Men's volleyball team ranked No. 1 in the nation
After winning the UC Santa Barbara Tournament title last weekend, coach John Speraw’s Anteaters took the top spot this week in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.
The UCI men’s volleyball team is ranked No. 1 nationally this week in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll. Coach John Speraw’s Anteaters, 4-0 on the season, won the UC Santa Barbara Tournament title last weekend with victories over previous No. 1 BYU, Long Beach State and UCLA. Junior outside hitter Jeremy Dejno (pictured) was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Week after totaling 57 kills in the three weekend wins. UCI hosts second-ranked BYU Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Bren Events Center.
