Ali Mohraz, UC Irvine assistant professor of chemical engineering & materials science, has received a $400,000 Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) award from the National Science Foundation. He will use it to study the structural properties of semisolids via experimental techniques and computer simulations. The CAREER award is the NSF’s most prestigious prize in support of promising junior faculty members who most effectively integrate research and education. In 2009, Mohraz won the Fariborz Maseeh Best Teaching Award and was named the chemical engineering & materials science Professor of the Year by UCI’s Engineering Student Council.
