Harry Haigler, physiology & biophysics professor, has been awarded the 2010 National Golden Apple for Teaching Excellence by the American Medical Student Association, the nation’s largest independent group for physicians-in-training. The award honors outstanding medical school professors. In addition to teaching, Haigler (pictured) is associate dean for basic science education in UCI’s School of Medicine and medical physiology course director. He’ll receive the award at AMSA’s 60th annual convention next month in Anaheim. It’s the second year in a row that a UCI educator has won the Golden Apple. Last year, it went to Robert Leonard, adjunct professor of anatomy & neurobiology.
