Men's volleyball hosts international tournament

The defending NCAA championship men’s volleyball team kicks off its 2009-10 campaign by hosting the UC Irvine World Volleyball Challenge Oct. 9 and 10 at the Bren Events Center. The tournament – the first of its kind in the U.S. – will feature some of the world’s finest professional players from top-level teams in Argentina, South Korea and the Netherlands. Semifinal games will be played at 5 and 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, with bronze and championship matches taking place at the same times Saturday.
