Alfred Kobsa, informatics professor at UC Irvine, has been elected to the Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science editorial board. Kobsa, who is one of 15 board members, will oversee the areas of information systems and applications, including human-computer interaction. LNCS began as a proceedings series in 1993 and now has seven journals and 16 subseries that cover the entire field of computer science. All 150,000 of the articles contained in its 5,000 volumes that have been published to date are available online. The site receives about 2 million worldwide downloads per year.
