The chair of UCI’s Program Public Health is honored for his role in raising the profile of the campus’s OCW site.

Just five years after launching the program – which makes high-quality, university-level classes available for free online – the university has captured five prestigious awards.

Five years later, UCI’s OCW offerings have grown from just 10 complete University Extension courses to include contributions from 66 UCI faculty members, 50 complete courses, 70 video lectures and more than 1,000 learning assets.

Leaders in technology and education will convene Sept. 26 and 27 at the California Institute for Telecommunications & Information Technology on the UC Irvine campus for a symposium on open learning systems and the future of higher education.
