Arthur Lander, a recognized leader in the emerging field of systems biology whose research has helped identify underlying causes for some cancers and birth defects, has been named the Donald Bren Professor of Developmental & Cell Biology at UC Irvine.
The award provides five years of additional support to the biologists, mathematicians, physicists, engineers and computer scientists who collaborate in pursuit of a more comprehensive and accurate understanding of complex biological systems.
The four-year, $600,000 award is a continuation of funding Diane O’Dowd originally received in 2006.
