UCI students come up just short in their latest effort to break a dodgeball world record
Almost 3,000 UC Irvine students descended on the Anteater Recreation Center sports field Tuesday to take part in a 7-year-old campus tradition of breaking a Guinness World Record. This year’s attempt? The largest game of four-quadrant dodgeball.

NBA coach Scott Brooks supports UCI basketball before starting new job

UC Irvine students convened at the Anteater Recreation Center sports field Tuesday afternoon in attempt to put on the largest game of four-quadrant dodgeball and clinch their seventh Guinness world record.

400-year battery life? Yes, please
A doctoral student at the University of California, Irvine, might have discovered a way to make rechargeable batteries last for several centuries. After Mya Le Thai experimented with coating gold nanowires … with manganese and Plexiglas-like electrolyte gel, the battery was able to cycle over 30,000 times. For perspective, laptop batteries only last 300-500 charge cycles. While the discovery is still in experimental stages, this could be pretty huge for the battery world.
