FLASH radiation therapy can help treat cancer without harmful effects, study finds
FLASH radiation therapy, also called FLASH-RT, can eliminate the debilitating side effects associated with traditional radiation therapy by delivering the same dose in tenths of seconds, and can remove tumors, according to a study published in Clinical Cancer Research. … Charles Limoli, PhD, a researcher and professor of radiation oncology at University of California Irvine [said] It’s not unreasonable to expect that in 10 years, this may become a widespread option for radiotherapy patients worldwide.”

How Roblox became the ‘it’ game for tweens — and a massive business
Katie Salen Tekinbaş, a game design professor at the University of California, Irvine, estimates that the virtual camp nonprofit Connected Camps she co-founded, which teaches kids how to build Roblox games, saw attendance jump to 10,000 over the summer, while previous years typically saw 2,000 attendees. “I think it does begin to open up pathways for young people, particularly into the tech sector, which is hard to get into,” said Tekinbaş.

Frumpy Middle-aged Mom: My bathroom is overrun with ants. And not in a good way
So I walked into my bathroom this morning, and what do you think I found? What I found that didn’t belong there were ants. Lots and lots of them. I don’t know why ants like my bathroom, there really isn’t anything there for them. But they seem fascinated by my granite sink counter and simply can’t get enough of it. … I should call up UC Irvine and see if they actually have an anteater there, like their mascot, and ask if I can borrow it.
