UC Irvine boosted its admission offers to California freshmen by 15.6 percent this fall, an increase of more than 2,800 students to 21,243. … “The word is out: UCI is a first-choice school for talented students of all backgrounds,” UCI Chancellor Howard Gillman said in a statement.

Former UC Irvine standout Mamadou Ndiaye begins NBA Summer League play with the Golden State Warriors Saturday, July 9, against the San Antonio Spurs at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN2 from the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. … Ndiaye, a 7-6 center who played three seasons at UCI, is one of 16 players on the Golden State Summer League roster.
