Fake News Can Give Us False Memories, Study Finds
The implications of this study are clear: not only is it shockingly easy for bad actors to manipulate people by exploiting their biases, but it’s also not easy for people to readjust their perspectives after they’ve been manipulated, even if they’ve been explicitly told that’s the case. “People will act on their fake memories, and it is often hard to convince them that fake news is fake,” co-author Elizabeth Loftus of the University of California, Irvine said in a press release.

Hookah smoke isn’t a chemically safer alternative to cigarettes, UCI study says
“There’s a perception that, No. 1, a nicotine-free tobacco is good for you. It’s incorrect — even if you have a nicotine-free product, you still have a whole lot of different chemicals coming out, including some that are toxic,” said study co-author Sergey Nizkorodov, a chemistry professor at UCI. “No. 2, there’s also a perception that if you have water in the water pipe, it’ll clean out the smoke to remove the toxins from it.
