Most Of LA, Ventura, San Bernardino Counties Are Now In ‘Severe Drought’: Report
A new report by U.S. Drought Monitor says that most of Los Angeles and Ventura counties, as well as half of Riverside County, are now in ‘severe drought.’ … “When you have this perfect combination you have dead trees, you have dry fuels, you have a very dry atmosphere—this is the perfect recipe for massive wildfires,” added Tirtha Banerjee, assistant professor at UC Irvine.

New UCI Health program is helping ‘long COVID’ patients overcome lingering symptoms
This month, UCI Health launched a outpatient program to treat the [coronavirus long-haul] syndrome ….The long-term syndrome that appears to ripple through the body poses a “huge public health concern,” said Dr. Long-Co Nguyen, who is overseeing UCI Health’s program. … The new clinic, UCI Health COVID Recovery Service, consists of specialists brought in to treat those in need of a certain expertise, including a patient’s mental health. How climate change moved Earth’s axis
“The Earth is like a spinning top, and if you put more mass on one side or the other, the axis of rotation is going to shift slightly,” explained Isabella Velicogna, a professor of Earth system sciences at the University of California, Irvine, and a researcher at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. …  “This study confirms previous studies that have shown the contribution of the melting of the Greenland ice sheets to the shift of Earth’s rotation axis,” said UC Irvine’s Velicogna, who was not involved in the new research. “It shows once again another impact of the melting of ice sheets on the earth system.”
