Nearly 5,000 Anteaters filled the right-field seats at Angel Stadium of Anaheim on Saturday, May 9, wearing blue-and-gold, limited-edition baseball caps for “UCI Night with the Angels.”
After defeating UCLA, 4-3, to win the Los Angeles Regional, the ’Eaters will head to Charlottesville to take on top-seeded Virginia Cavaliers.
Ten years ago, UCI baseball returned,and with a College World Series appearance in 2007 and a stretch as the No. 1 team in the country in 2009, today stands as one of the best programs in the nation.
Mike Lawrence ’00 may have been an all-conference golfer during his undergraduate years at UC Irvine, but his greatest contribution to Anteater athletics endures to this day.
