On Aug. 5, 104 members of UCI’s School of Medicine class of 2015 received their first physician’s white coat, the first steps on the shared road to becoming doctors. The paths that brought these students to this juncture, however, differ significantly. The School of Medicine’s innovative program provides iPads containing course outlines, notes, lecture slides and textbooks; the West Coast’s first portable ultrasound training curriculum; as well as advanced medical simulation and telemedicine facilities in the school’s state-of-the-art building.
