Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez
Representative of the 47th District will see research that promises advances in clean energy and healthcare.
Rep. Sanchez represents the 47th Congressional District, comprising much of central Orange County. She serves on the Homeland Security, Armed Services and Joint Economic committees in the U.S. House of Representatives. John Hemminger, physical sciences dean, will lead her tour of the NFCRC, where innovative research is being conducted on fuel cell power for cars and homes. Sanchez will then visit the stem cell labs where UCI researchers’ discoveries led to the first clinical trial of a stem cell treatment for spinal cord injury and, more recently, to promising treatments for Alzheimer’s disease.
