UCI doctoral candidate Payel Chowdhury has been selected for a summer internship with the United Nations in New York City. An aspiring economist, she is also president of UCI’s Associated Graduate Students. A full-time U.N. internship is one of the most prestigious and highly coveted opportunities available to graduate and postdoctoral scholars. About 3,000 applicants compete for almost 300 positions. “I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to apply all that I have learned here at UCI to the real world,” Chowdhury said. “Being in the hub of New York City will be a new experience and one to which I am looking forward.” She will work in the Division for Public Administration & Development Management in the Department of Economic & Social Affairs.
