Orange County sees drop in COVID hospitalizations

Orange County’s COVID-19 hospitalizations fell by 19 people to 77, according to the latest state figures out Saturday. The number of those patients in intensive care was 14, the same as Friday. “I’m liking what I’m seeing … I haven’t seen numbers that low in a long time,” Andrew Noymer, an epidemiologist and UC Irvine [associate] professor of [public] health, told City News Service on Friday. Sprinkling some caution into the mix, Noymer said the highly contagious BA.2 omicron subvariant could drive another surge.
