Disneyland to serve as ‘super site’ for COVID-19 vaccinations

Andrew Noymer, a UC Irvine professor of population health and disease prevention public health, said a new strain of COVID-19 that has been detected in Southern California more easily spreads, but the current vaccines appear to be as effective. It is not more deadly, but the new strain could lead to more deaths because it would infect more people, Noymer said. “We could be in for a tsunami,” Noymer said. The high hospitalization and death rates should continue through February at least, Noymer said.
