Tyrus Miller, dean of the School of Humanities, has pledged $60,000 to establish a new endowment for a distinguished lecture series. The school regularly hosts conversations around today’s grand challenges, ranging from environmental change to advances in medicine and biology and the evolution of powerful new technologies. The Dean’s Distinguished Lecture Series will feature events that let the public listen to and engage with leading speakers on key issues of humanities scholarship and creative work. “This is just a first step toward what we want to accomplish as a school,” Miller said. “Our philanthropic, aspirational goals include a Humanities Center endowment and increasing student support.”
