Why some COVID-19 victims are dying at home without medical care

Andrew Noymer, an epidemiologist at UC Irvine who studies pandemics, said the findings “highlight a gap” in communication from public officials to residents about the virus and when to seek help. While there’s no way of knowing for sure if a hospital visit will save a life, Noymer said, in some cases, it could. “People need to understand that if they’re very sick, they need to seek medical care,” he said.
