Coronavirus hospitalizations dip in Orange County, but ‘we’re not out of the woods’

But “we’re not out of the woods,” said Dr. Shruti Gohil, associate medical director of epidemiology and infection prevention at UCI Medical Center. “We’re still orders of magnitude higher than we were in April or May – June even.” … The availability of intensive care beds and ventilators has slipped. … That poses an ongoing problem for hospitals such as UCI Medical Center, Gohil said. “We’ve become a place where people will transfer to UC Irvine for higher levels of care. Our numbers are probably going to decline later than other hospitals.”
