Shanna Farmer, a Newport Beach-based licensed marriage and family therapist and an associate clinical professor [volunteer] at the UC Irvine School of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, said that parents should be on the alert for signs of anxiety and depressive disorders in their children. “There are a lot of potential issues for anxiety and depression to settle in whenever we have a sudden shift in everyday routines,” she said.
