Nearly 4,000 UC Irvine students marked the beginning of basketball practice season Friday with the ninth annual Shocktoberfest celebration in the Bren Events Center. They watched UCI’s 7-foot-6-inch center Mamadou Ndiaye win the slam-dunk contest with two basketballs at once. The three-point shoot-out this year featured class-based teams comprising one male player and one female player. The sophomore team came out on top. A dance party to the music of Slander, Cash Cash and Adventure Club followed the hoops activities. Click on any image at right to launch a slideshow capturing the spirit of the evening.
